Human trafficking is a global phenomenon, which affects all the countries in the world. The mechanism of human trafficking is a simple one: demand and supply. As long as there is a demand, there will also be a supply. Because of the fact that Romania is mostly a country of origin of trafficking victims, while Switzerland is mostly a country of destination for victims coming from Romania, the ways of approaching the phenomenon are somewhat different. In both countries analyzed in this study, Romania and Switzerland, there is specific legislation concerning this phenomenon and there are different approaches to provide assistance to the victims. The present collaboration between the two countries has led to the improvement of the situation of victims originating from Romania and identified on the territory of Switzerland.
