Unfortunately, we encounter increasingly frequent cases of abuse towards the elderly. Unlike child abuse, the abuse towards the elderly seems a much neglected topic. Based on the change of perceptions and attitudes towards older people over time, this article addresses the issue of abuse towards the elders analyzing: the types of elderly abuse, the methods of preventing and controlling the abuse of older people, the institutions responsible for protecting abused elderly people, the international perspective on this issue.
