Work satisfaction designates the level of satisfaction experienced by the employees as far as their job and their position are concerned; thus, for some persons their working place is a source of professional satisfaction, while for others it generates a whole series of dissatisfaction. The organizational culture is that force which directs and stimulates the employees, while at the same time guiding the institution with regard to an increased efficiency of the whole activity. In this paper we wanted to follow the problems of organizational culture and work satisfaction, two aspects of great complexity and actuality, representing one of the research priorities of sociology, management, psychology etc. Thus, this paper wants to present the way work satisfaction and organizational culture are being seen and explained in professional literature, but most of all the connection between these two aspects and the characteristics of the population studied (1704 employees of the professional emergency services from the Western part of Romania). The results of the study confirm the hypotheses to a great extent and bring new and extremely useful information to the management process.
