The present paper demonstrates the need to create a school social work program that will support families, students and teaching staff active in pre-university education in Romania starting from the following objectives: identifying existing needs within the educational process to which the field of school social work provides support; determining the legal normative framework that refers to the function of the social worker in pre-university education institutions; determining the basic elements that contribute to the school social work process; determining the theoretical frameworks that guide the intervention in school social work.
