This is an introductory, overview article presenting the main challenges facing social work in the 21st century. The article contains reflections and predictions on the future of the social work profession, on international trends within the profession, on how current challenges are driving social work towards new adjustments and adaptations, as well as on the opportunities for professional development specific to our times.
