This study was carried out in 2023, within the Joy of Helping Foundation, from Bucharest. The interview method was used for 30 employees in the medical field to identify the stress factors and coping strategies of the employees. In the conclusions of the study we find the theory of social support, social learning, affiliation, social comparison, emotions and belonging in the answers received from the center's specialists. Specific stress factors for employees are patients with mental illnesses who are verbally and physically violent, relatives with mental disorders or who, although they receive psychological, social and spiritual counseling, cannot come to terms with the progress of the patients' illness and say that they want to heal, to live, to improve the disease. Stress affects employees even if they receive support from family and team members, and coping strategies play a role in reducing the effect of stressors, but cannot completely eliminate them. Coping strategies are known by the 30 employees and used in practice, such as: affiliation in which they receive help from other team members, altruism which causes a person to have the power to get out of a conflict, anticipation in which they are aware of what could happen and have the possibility to intervene. In the center there is a social worker, a psychologist and a priest who offer counseling to patients, family members and support the staff employed, but there is no counselor employed and dedicated only to staff of "Palliative Care Center". Counseling of palliative care specialists could have a significant impact by preventing stress, developing employees' skills to manage stressful situations, effective use of coping techniques, improving the process of communication with patients and family members. Achieving these outcomes for employees through counseling would improve the quality of life of employees directly.
