The penal system sanctions the minor delinquents by laying them into special institution (reeducation centre or penitentiary). Besides the custodial function, the penal institutions have the role to re-socialize and give to the society those who once committed crimes. The penitentiary regime requires all the educative means to determine the freed delinquent to respect law and take care of his own necessities. The information from this article was given by Colonel Carmen Dumitru, the head of Social-Educative Services of the Rahova Penitentiary.
