The paper aims to analyse the techniques and methods used by social workers in interaction with beneficiaries, as well as the role of communication in the practice of social work. The research presents both the techniques and methods used by social workers in working with families and children in difficulty, as well as the differences and similarities present in communicating with adults and minors. The study is outlined on a descriptive design, using the qualitative method, namely the unstructured individual interview and the case study. The respondents are the debutant and main social workers who work in Timisoara, Timis County, Romania. The practical implications refer to the strategies used by social workers to communicate effectively with beneficiaries and improve the quality of services provided, regardless of the vulnerable group.
