A legendary figure in the USA history, starter of modern American sociology, initiator of scientific social work opposed to the simple act of charity, Jane Addams had nothing of the typical glitter of American models and did not benefit from their inherent fame. Assigned by a British labourer leader as being “the only saint America gave”, Jane Addams is the only American woman who received the Nobel Price for peace in 1931.
