The desire for cosmetic procedures and tattoos is rapidly increasing, reflecting a growing trend in the pursuit of body-image improvement and self-expression. The main purpose of this paper is to explore how individuals undergoing aesthetic interventions and tattoos to enhance body image and as means of self-expression are perceived in contemporary society. Additionally, it addresses the psychological and social implications, including some risks and benefits of this procedures. Implications for social work are discussed, with emphasis on the role of social work professionals in fostering an inclusive and supporting climate, grounded in respect for diversity and promoting equitable practices.
